What MOBI is

MOBI is the original Kindle ebook format. Amazon has since moved to newer formats, but a great many free and DRM-free books are still published as MOBI.

Why a PDF

A PDF is ideal for reading on a laptop, sharing with someone without an ebook app, or printing a chapter. Every device can open it without installing anything.

Reflowable to fixed pages

Ebooks have no fixed pages; they reflow to the screen. Converting to PDF fixes the layout, which is great for printing and less comfortable on a small phone. If you want to keep reflowable text, MOBI to EPUB is the better conversion.

How it works

  1. 01

    Upload your MOBI

Drop a file or pick one from your device. Private by default.

  2. 02

    Convert with Calibre

Calibre reads the book and lays the text and images out onto fixed PDF pages.

  3. 03

    Download

    Grab your PDF.

Text, images and chapters carried across

Opens on every device, prints cleanly

Private uploads, auto-deleted after 1 hour

No watermark, no signup to try

Open-source Calibre engine

MOBI to PDF

This re-flows the book into PDF, carrying chapters, the table of contents and images. Reflowable ebook formats adapt to the reader's screen and font size. Heavy fixed layouts (comics, textbooks) convert less cleanly.

Common questions

Is it free?+

Yes. Convert MOBI to PDF free. No signup and no watermark. Free covers 10 server conversions a day, up to 100 MB a file. Pro removes the daily limit and raises the file limit to 2 GB.

Is my file private?+

Your file is uploaded to a private bucket, converted on our own engine, and auto-deleted after 1 hour. It is never sent to a third-party converter.

Can it convert books bought from Amazon?+

Only DRM-free files. Books protected by DRM are encrypted and cannot be converted by FileWhirl or any legitimate converter.

Will the layout match my Kindle?+

Not exactly. A MOBI reflows to fit the screen, while a PDF has fixed pages. Calibre chooses a page size and lays the text out once, so chapters and images stay but line breaks differ.
