  1. Open the developer tools: press F12 in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on Windows, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac, then choose the Network tab.
  2. Clear the list, then add your PDF and run Merge PDF.
  3. Look at the requests that appear. An upload would be a request at least as large as your file; sort by size to find it.

What we saw when we did this on Merge PDF with two small PDFs: the browser fetched one script file of this site's own code (the PDF engine), and sent one message of about one kilobyte with page speed and engagement figures. No request carried either PDF, and the merged file was built and downloaded in the browser.

Common questions

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?+

No. Merging runs entirely in your browser with a local PDF engine. Your files never leave your device and are never sent to a server. Most other tools, including iLovePDF, upload your PDFs to their servers first.

Is there a file or page limit?+

No artificial caps. You can merge as many PDFs as your browser's memory allows, free, with no signup or watermark.

Can I reorder the files?+

Yes. Use the up/down controls on each row to set the exact order before you merge.

What if a PDF is password-protected?+

Remove the password first (we have an Unlock PDF step for files you have the right to open). Encrypted PDFs can't be merged as-is.

Does it keep quality?+

Yes. Pages are copied exactly, with no re-compression, so text stays sharp and selectable.
