Common questions
What kinds of damage can it fix?+
It rebuilds PDFs with a broken cross-reference table, corrupted object structure, or a truncated/incomplete download — the most common reasons a PDF "won't open". It can't recover content that simply isn't in the file.
Is every PDF recoverable?+
No. If a file is severely damaged or the data is genuinely missing, no tool can bring it back. We try qpdf first and fall back to a Ghostscript rewrite to recover as much as possible — but some files are beyond repair.
Is my file private?+
Yes. It's uploaded over an encrypted connection, repaired on our own server with no third-party APIs, and the upload and result are deleted within one hour.
Will it change my content?+
It rebuilds the file's internal structure, not your pages. Text and images are preserved where they're recoverable; the goal is a valid PDF that opens.
Is there a limit?+
No watermark, no signup, and generous file sizes — free to use.
