Is it free?+
Yes. Convert Video to Transcript free. No signup and no watermark. Free covers 10 server conversions a day, up to 100 MB a file. Pro removes the daily limit and raises the file limit to 2 GB.
Is my file private?+
Uploads go to a private bucket, are converted, and auto-delete after 1 hour. Files never touch a third-party converter.
Does the transcript have timestamps?+
No. This page gives you the words as one block of plain text. For timed captions, convert the video to SRT instead, which uses the same speech engine and keeps the start and end time of every line.
Which languages does it understand?+
Whisper listens to the opening of the recording, works out the language, and transcribes in that language. It covers most widely spoken languages. A video that switches language part way through may come out in the first one.
How do I get the most accurate transcript?+
Clear speech close to the microphone matters most. Loud background music, several people talking at once and heavy echo are the usual causes of missed words, and names or specialist terms are worth a quick check.
What if nobody talks in my video?+
Then there is nothing to transcribe, and we tell you so instead of handing you an empty file. If you wanted the soundtrack, convert the video to MP3.
