Worked example
A widescreen clip cropped to a square
We cropped a 20 second 1920 x 1080 MP4 of 19,342,926 bytes to a square box from the middle. It came back as a 1080 x 1080 MP4 of 12,182,778 bytes in 899 milliseconds, still 20 seconds, with the sound at the same 127,654 bits per second.
Measured on 19 October 2026 by running the conversion engine this page uses on our own test files.
What it does not do
It does not move the box over time: one crop box applies to the whole video.
