Convert AVIF to PDF.
Turn an AVIF image into a PDF that opens anywhere. Tesseract OCR adds a searchable text layer for any text in the picture.
What AVIF is
AVIF is an image format based on the AV1 video codec. It gives excellent quality at small sizes, so websites and some phones use it, but support outside browsers is still patchy.
Why turn it into a PDF
A PDF is the easiest way to print, file or send an image to someone who cannot open AVIF. It also lets you combine the image with other pages later using Merge PDF.
Searchable when there is text
Screenshots and photographed documents get a hidden text layer from Tesseract OCR, so the PDF can be searched. Pure photos simply become an image page.
How it works
- 01
Upload your AVIF
Drop a file or pick one from your device. Private by default.
- 02
Decode and read with OCR
The AVIF is decoded, placed on a PDF page, and Tesseract adds a hidden text layer.
- 03
Download
Grab your PDF.
Opens on devices that cannot show AVIF
Searchable text layer when the image contains text
Private uploads, auto-deleted after 1 hour
No watermark, no signup to try
Open-source decoders and OCR
What you get from AVIF to PDF
Your AVIF is uploaded and placed onto a PDF page at full resolution on our servers, so it prints and shares cleanly. Where the image holds text, a Tesseract OCR pass adds a searchable, selectable layer underneath. The picture itself is unchanged.
Common questions
Is it free?+
Yes. Convert AVIF to PDF free. No signup and no watermark. Free covers 10 server conversions a day, up to 100 MB a file. Pro removes the daily limit and raises the file limit to 2 GB.
Is my file private?+
Your file is uploaded to a private bucket, converted on our own engine, and auto-deleted after 1 hour. It is never sent to a third-party converter.
Why can't I open my AVIF?+
AVIF is a recent format. Current browsers show it, but many older photo viewers, office suites and printers do not. A PDF opens everywhere.
Is the picture quality kept?+
The image is decoded at its full resolution and placed on the page. Because AVIF is a compressed format, the PDF is usually larger than the AVIF.
