Common questions
Why 100 KB?+
Some university, visa and job application portals cap each document at 100 KB. That is very tight for anything scanned, so the images have to come down a long way.
Will it fit?+
A short scan of one or two pages often fits. A long scanned document, or one full of photos, may not fit while staying legible. If the smallest version we can make is still over 100 KB, we give it to you and tell you, so you can split the PDF or use a larger target.
Will my text stay readable?+
Yes. Only embedded images are downsampled. Real text and vector graphics are kept as they are, so they stay crisp and selectable. Text that is part of a scanned image is an image, so it gets softer as the resolution drops.
Is my PDF private?+
It's uploaded over an encrypted connection, compressed on our server, and both the upload and the result are deleted after 1 hour.
Is it free?+
