Convert SVG to GIF.

Render an SVG drawing to a GIF image for places that cannot display vector files, such as email, older forums and some upload forms.

Vector in, pixels out

An SVG describes shapes mathematically and can scale to any size. A GIF is a grid of pixels. Converting renders the drawing once, at a fixed size, so pick the format you need at the end.

Rendered sharp first

The SVG is rasterised at a high density before it is saved, so curves and text come out smooth rather than jagged. A logo usually needs only a handful of colours, which fits GIF well.

Keep the SVG

Hold on to the original SVG for future edits and for the web, where it stays sharp at every size. Use the GIF for the one place that needs it.

How it works

  1. 01

    Upload your SVG

Drop a file or pick one from your device. Private by default.

  2. 02

    Render with libvips

The SVG is drawn at high resolution, then saved as a GIF with an optimised palette.

  3. 03

    Download

    Grab your GIF.

SVG to GIF (rasterising)

SVG is vector artwork; GIF is a pixel image. We render it at a sensible resolution, which fixes how sharp it stays when scaled up later. Pick a generous size if you'll enlarge it: pixels can't be added back afterwards.

Common questions

Is it free?+

Yes. Convert SVG to GIF free. No signup and no watermark. Free covers 10 server conversions a day, up to 100 MB a file. Pro removes the daily limit and raises the file limit to 2 GB.

Is my file private?+

Your file is uploaded to a private bucket, converted on our own engine, and auto-deleted after 1 hour. It is never sent to a third-party converter.

Is SVG animation kept?+

No. The SVG is rendered as a single still image, so any CSS or SMIL animation is not carried into the GIF.

Why GIF and not PNG?+

Choose GIF only when the destination requires it. PNG keeps smooth edges and partial transparency, so SVG to PNG is the better choice when the destination accepts it.
