Convert TIFF to GIF.
Turn a heavy TIFF into a small GIF for the web, an email or a system that asks for GIF.
TIFF is built for archives, not sharing
Scanners, fax systems and print workflows save TIFF because it keeps everything. The trade-off is size: a single page can run to tens of megabytes, which is too much for a web page or an email.
Where GIF fits
Black and white scans, technical drawings, charts and logos use few colours, so they convert to GIF with almost no visible change and a very large size saving.
When to pick something else
For a colour photo, JPG is the better small format. For a lossless copy you can keep editing, use PNG. To keep every page, use PDF.
How it works
- 01
Upload your TIFF
Drop a file or pick one from your device. Private by default.
- 02
Convert with libvips
The TIFF is decoded and saved as a GIF with an optimised 256-colour palette.
- 03
Download
Grab your GIF.
Far smaller than the TIFF
Good for scanned line art and diagrams
Private uploads, auto-deleted after 1 hour
No watermark, no signup to try
Open-source libvips engine
TIFF to GIF
Both are raster image formats, so this re-encodes the pixels from TIFF into GIF. File size and quality follow the target format's compression. We keep the visible result as close to the original as GIF allows.
Common questions
Is it free?+
Yes. Convert TIFF to GIF free. No signup and no watermark. Free covers 10 server conversions a day, up to 100 MB a file. Pro removes the daily limit and raises the file limit to 2 GB.
Is my file private?+
Your file is uploaded to a private bucket, converted on our own engine, and auto-deleted after 1 hour. It is never sent to a third-party converter.
What about a multi-page TIFF?+
Only the first page is converted. For every page in one file, convert the TIFF to PDF instead.
Will a photo look as good?+
No. A TIFF can hold millions of colours and GIF holds 256. For photographs choose TIFF to JPG or TIFF to PNG.
