Common questions
Why 2 MB?+
2 MB is a frequent limit on upload forms, help desks and older email systems, and a size that sends quickly on a slow connection.
How long can the audio be?+
About four minutes fits at 64 kbps, clear for speech and acceptable for music. The lowest bitrate we use is 32 kbps, so audio longer than about eight minutes cannot fit 2 MB.
Which formats work?+
MP3, M4A, AAC and OGG, and the result keeps the same format. WAV and FLAC are lossless, so a bitrate cannot shrink them: convert them to MP3 first, then compress.
Is my audio private?+
It's uploaded over an encrypted connection, compressed on our server, and both the upload and the result are deleted after 1 hour.
Is it free?+
Yes, with no watermark and no signup. Free covers 10 server conversions a day, up to 100 MB a file. Pro removes the daily limit and raises the file limit to 2 GB.
