Common questions

Is my image uploaded?+

For JPG, PNG and WebP, no. The border is drawn on a canvas in your browser, so the image never leaves your device. (Formats the browser can't open are processed privately on our engine and deleted after 1 hour.)

Why is the thickness a percentage?+

Because a border that looks right on a 400px thumbnail disappears on a 6000px photo. A percentage is measured from the shorter side, so the frame carries the same visual weight whether the picture is portrait or landscape. You can switch to exact pixels whenever you want a specific number.

Can I add a transparent border instead of a coloured one?+

Yes, and it's useful for adding breathing room without changing the look. Because transparency needs an alpha channel, a transparent border on a JPEG is saved as a PNG instead. Written back as a JPEG the clear pixels would be filled in solid black, which looks like a broken tool rather than a limit of the format.

Does the picture get cropped?+

No. The border is added around the outside, so the image gets larger by twice the border on each dimension and nothing is lost.

Free, no watermark?+
